CDA Denies New Stadium Plans at F-9 Park

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has dismissed claims that a new cricket stadium is being built at F-9 Park, Islamabad, stressing that the project only involves upgrading the existing cricket ground.

The clarification came after speculation on social media suggested that a large-scale stadium was under construction at one of the city’s most prominent green spaces.

Officials explained that the current work focuses on improving the playing surface, installing better facilities, and raising the venue to international standards, while ensuring the park retains its recreational and environmental character.

CDA underlined that no green areas are being cut down or altered for the project. Instead, the plan includes landscaping and turf improvements aimed at enhancing the park’s natural beauty. Children’s play areas, jogging tracks, and family recreational zones, the authority said, will remain unaffected.

Officials further assured that public access and security arrangements will not be disrupted during the development. Visitors will be able to continue using the park freely, while efforts are made to keep it safe and welcoming.

The authority maintained that the initiative is designed to create a modern cricketing space for Islamabad’s residents without disturbing the ecological balance of the capital’s largest urban park. It reiterated its commitment to preserving greenery while introducing facilities that cater to community needs.
