Imran Khan: Only Pakistani Captain With This Feat Twice

Only a handful of Pakistani batting greats have managed to score a half-century in ICC knockout matches, and the list is surprisingly short.

The most successful name remains World Cup-winning captain Imran Khan, who achieved the feat twice at the crucial stage of the knockout matches .

The former captain scored 72 against England in the 1992 World Cup final and 58 against Australia in the 1987 World Cup semi-final.

Aamer Sohail joined the list in 1996, scoring 55 in a high-pressure quarter-final against India. Although Pakistan lost that match, his aggressive batting is still remembered.

More than two decades later, Babar Azam revived the tradition. His 53 against New Zealand in the 2022 T20 World Cup semi-final made him the only Pakistani batter this century to reach a fifty in an ICC knockout game.
