Ex-Postmaster Gets 29 Years for Pension Fraud

A special court in Rawalpindi has handed down a 29-year rigorous imprisonment sentence to a former government employee convicted of large-scale financial misconduct.

Hamid Jaleel, previously a postmaster, was also fined more than Rs 2 million and ordered to repay Rs 21.5 million to the Pakistan Post Department.

The ruling came from the Special Central Judge following an investigation by the Anti-Corruption Circle in Islamabad. The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had registered the case in 2022, accusing Jaleel of tampering with pension savings records.
