Sharjah Plans Separate Seating for Pak-Afghan Fans

In preparation for the high-profile Tri-Nation cricket series, officials at Sharjah Stadium have developed a new crowd management plan aimed at preventing clashes between Pakistani and Afghan supporters.

Sources close to the stadium management revealed that separate entry points and seating enclosures will be arranged for fans from both countries during matches involving Pakistan and Afghanistan. The new approach follows a series of confrontations between the two fan groups during previous international fixtures.

Officials reportedly stated that the decision was taken after evaluating past incidents, such as those during the Asia Cup in Sharjah and the 2019 World Cup in Leeds, where tensions escalated following tightly contested matches.

A stadium representative noted that emotions often run high when the two sides face off. To minimise the risk of disorder, they said crowd segregation had become essential.

The much-awaited group-stage clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan are set to take place on August 29 and September 2. With large audiences expected, stadium management is focused on ensuring safety and a smooth matchday experience.

The authorities are also reviewing other security arrangements, including increased personnel, CCTV surveillance, and rapid-response teams, to address any potential disturbances swiftly.
