Oval Drama Ends with Indian Victory

India edged past England by six runs in a nail-biting finish at The Oval, securing a dramatic win in the final Test to level the five-match series 2-2 on Monday.

England began the final day at 339 for six, chasing a stiff target of 374, with Jamie Smith unbeaten on two and Jamie Overton yet to score. Despite needing just 35 runs to win, the English lower order failed to withstand India’s pressure-packed bowling.

Harry Brook and Joe Root had kept England in contention with impressive centuries. Brook hammered 111 off 98 balls, striking 14 fours and two sixes, while Root crafted a patient 105 from 152 balls. Ben Duckett added a solid 54, but the rest of the line-up faltered, with five batters failing to cross double digits.
