Medical Equipment Worth Millions Disappears from Jinnah Hospital

A serious case of missing medical equipment has emerged from Jinnah Hospital in Lahore, where items worth over Rs12 million have reportedly vanished, sparking outrage and calls for accountability.

According to sources, the Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education has issued a show-cause notice to Dr. Shabbir Hussain in connection with the case. The notice follows an internal inquiry conducted by a three-member committee set up to investigate the disappearance.

Items missing from the hospital inventory include essential tools such as operation theatre tables, hospital beds, air conditioners, wheelchairs, and various pieces of furniture. The scale of the disappearance has raised major concerns regarding management practices and internal monitoring at the public hospital.

The inquiry committee reportedly gathered enough evidence to suggest that the equipment had not simply been misplaced but may have been deliberately removed or hidden. Dr. Shabbir Hussain has been asked to submit a detailed explanation. The department has warned that failure to provide a satisfactory response may result in disciplinary action.

Authorities have stated that further investigations are ongoing and promised that all those involved will face consequences. Officials said the case highlights the need for stronger internal checks to prevent misuse of public resources in the healthcare sector.
