Mother Speaks Out After Moosewala Statue Vandalized
A wave of grief and anger has swept across fans of Sidhu Moosewala after gunmen targeted a statue of the late Punjabi singer in Sawant Kheda village, Dabwali, Sirsa district.
The statue, installed in 2023 by JJP leader Digvijay Chautala, was partially damaged in a recent shooting. A video showing gunfire at the monument was sent to Chautala from an international number, along with a chilling threat aimed at those who continue to honour Moosewala.
The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has reportedly claimed responsibility, accusing political figures like Chautala and Gagan Khokhari of glorifying Moosewala and misleading the public.

Sidhu Moosewala’s mother, Charan Kaur, broke her silence in an emotional social media post. She expressed sorrow that her son’s memory was being attacked, calling it a fresh wound to her soul. She described him as a symbol of resistance whose voice continues to speak for people’s rights.
Local police have registered a case in Dabwali and confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
Gang members also issued statements online, claiming that statues should only be built for freedom fighters or soldiers, not entertainers.
Sidhu Moosewala, born Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, was a prominent voice in Punjabi music. Known for his bold lyrics and political themes, he joined the Congress party in 2021. He was shot dead in May 2022 in Punjab, a killing linked to gang rivalries.
