KSE-100 Surges Past 145,800 in Early Trade

KARACHI –The bullish momentum at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued on Thursday, as investor confidence remained high on the back of a stable economic outlook and strong corporate earnings. The benchmark KSE-100 Index jumped over 700 points during the opening session.

By 10:50am, the index was trading at 145,814.78, up 726.29 points or 0.50%, extending Wednesday’s record-breaking rally. Gains were led by key sectors such as oil and gas exploration, OMCs, refineries, and power generation. Index-heavyweights including OGDC, PPL, MARI, ARL, HUBCO, and PSO were all in the green, fueling optimism in the broader market.

A day earlier, the benchmark KSE-100 had surged by 2,051 points (+1.43%) to settle at an all-time high closing of 145,088.50 points, breaking multiple resistance levels.Pakistan Stock Market Hits Historic High as Investor Optimism Grows

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a statement from the PM Office, welcomed the rally and attributed it to the government’s business-friendly reforms and a focus on investment facilitation. He said the surge reflects growing investor trust in economic management.

Global Market Snapshot

Asian stocks advanced in Thursday’s session, buoyed by tech-driven Wall Street gains, solid corporate results, and hopes of US interest rate cuts. Japan’s Topix index rose 0.9%, hitting a record high, while the Nikkei posted similar gains. Taiwan’s benchmark jumped 2.3% to a 13-month high. South Korea’s KOSPI gained 0.6%, Hang Seng was up 0.4%, and China’s blue chips rose 0.3%.
