Rupee Holds Steady Against US Dollar in Open Market
The Pakistani rupee showed relative stability against the US dollar on Tuesday, with marginal movement in the open market. According to currency market data from August 12, 2025, the buying rate for the dollar was recorded at Rs 284.1, while the selling rate stood at Rs 285.6.
In the interbank market, the rupee traded at Rs 284.65 against the greenback. Market analysts noted that such rates can vary depending on the location, as well as the bank or exchange company facilitating the transaction.
The open market also reflected updated rates for several major currencies. The British pound traded at Rs 380.65 for buying and Rs 382.85 for selling, while the euro was available at Rs 330.30 for buying and Rs 332.30 for selling.

Among Gulf currencies, the Saudi riyal was valued at Rs 75.8 for buying and Rs 76 for selling. The UAE dirham stood at Rs 77.45 and Rs 77.6, respectively. The Qatari riyal was noted at Rs 77.24 for buying and Rs 77.94 for selling, while the Omani riyal fetched Rs 736.70 for buying and Rs 738.70 for selling.

Other currencies included the Canadian dollar at Rs 205 for buying and Rs 210 for selling, and the Australian dollar at Rs 184.1 and Rs 189.75, respectively. The Chinese yuan was recorded at Rs 39.03 and Rs 39.43, while the Kuwaiti dinar remained the highest-valued foreign currency at Rs 918.35 for buying and Rs 926.35 for selling.
The Japanese yen traded at Rs 1.8 for buying and Rs 1.9 for selling, while the Indian rupee was valued at Rs 3.14 and Rs 3.23.
