Iqra Aziz Faces Backlash Over Daycare Abuse Remarks

Pakistani actress Iqra Aziz has come under intense criticism for her remarks on a harrowing child abuse case at a daycare centre in Noida, India. Social media users described her comments as “tone-deaf” and “privileged,” accusing her of disregarding the realities faced by working parents.

The controversy follows the circulation of disturbing CCTV footage from a Noida daycare, allegedly showing a maid slapping a 15-month-old girl, throwing her to the floor, and hitting her with a plastic belt while issuing threats.

Authorities confirmed the suspect had been arrested, and a case registered under relevant child protection laws. The child’s parents also accused the daycare head of failing to stop the abuse.

Responding to the incident, Aziz shared an Instagram story urging parents not to send children to daycares unless a trusted family member could supervise. She added that those without such arrangements should “stop bringing these little flowers into this world.”

Her statement sparked outrage online. Critics argued that Aziz overlooked the economic pressures that force many parents to rely on daycare services.

One user wrote that the actress enjoyed the privilege of having her mother care for her child, a luxury unavailable to many. Others insisted the focus should remain on condemning the abuser rather than criticising parents doing their best under difficult circumstances.
