K-Visa Opens Door for Pakistani Talent in Science and Technology
China will introduce a new K-visa on October 1 to attract young foreign professionals in science and technology, a move that could benefit many from Pakistan.
The visa is intended for individuals in STEM fields — science, technology, engineering, and mathematics — who are either degree holders from reputable universities or engaged in education and research at top institutions.
Applicants will not be required to secure a job offer before applying.

Holders of the K-visa will be able to take part in academic, scientific, and cultural exchange programmes in China. They will also enjoy longer stays, greater validity, and simplified entry compared to many other visa categories.
For Pakistan, the policy is seen as a chance to expand skill development and foster partnerships with Chinese institutions. Analysts say it could help Pakistani graduates and researchers gain exposure to cutting-edge technology and global innovation hubs.
The application process will be streamlined and jointly managed by China’s Foreign Ministry, Public Security agencies, and overseas embassies. Assistance will also be provided to K-visa holders in matters of residence and stay.
