Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain warned Engro Fertilizers CEO Ali Rathore against any involvement in hoarding or black marketing of fertilizers. He said such practices not only harm farmers but also threaten Pakistan’s food security and economic stability.

Hussain stressed the need to digitize the fertilizer supply chain to improve transparency, stabilize market prices, and ensure equitable access for all farmers. The minister urged Engro to extend its distribution to remote rural areas and align supply schedules with the agricultural calendar. He also encouraged the adoption of farmer facilitation centers and mobile supply networks to reach small-scale farmers effectively.
Outlining the government’s long-term vision, Hussain highlighted plans to increase domestic fertilizer production, promote nutrient-efficient products, and encourage environmentally sustainable practices to protect soil health.
Ali Rathore assured the minister of Engro’s commitment to fair pricing and quality supply, while supporting farmer training programs to encourage responsible fertilizer use. The meeting concluded with a joint resolve to strengthen public-private cooperation for sustainable agriculture and market stability.
