Govt Unveils Plan to Tackle Climate-Induced Calamities

Islamabad: Pakistan has chalked out an effective operational plan to mitigate and avert future calamities amid growing climate-related challenges.

In a recent meeting, the Prime Minister commended the proactive role played by the Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and his team in preparing for the crisis in close coordination with the Provincial Disaster Management Authorities.
He added that he had chaired a high-level preparedness review meeting involving the NDMA and provincial authorities and had issued directives to ensure that the best possible arrangements are in place. These include the preparation of a robust operational plan in coordination with provinces to tackle future calamities induced by climate change.
The Prime Minister also expressed deep condolences over the tragic loss of lives in the Swat drowning incident caused by flash floods. He stressed that this heart-wrenching tragedy should serve as a wake-up call for policymakers and executive authorities to implement stronger preventive measures.
He further stated that he would personally oversee the preparedness and preventive actions taken by provincial governments to ensure effective disaster management and public safety.
