Currency Market Shows Calm with Minimal Fluctuations

The Pakistani Rupee (PKR) remained stable against the US Dollar on Friday, 15 August 2025, with the greenback trading at Rs 284.65 in the open market. The selling rate stood at Rs 285.25. In the interbank market, the dollar was recorded at Rs 282.15, unchanged from its previous close of Rs 284.

Currency dealers reported no significant movement in the USD-PKR rate, reflecting a period of stability after recent fluctuations driven by global market trends and domestic demand.

Other major currencies also posted relatively steady rates. The British Pound traded at Rs 380.20 for buying and Rs 382.90 for selling, while the Euro stood at Rs 328.80 and Rs 330.30, respectively.

Among Gulf currencies, the Saudi Riyal was at Rs 75.80 (buying) and Rs 76.00 (selling), and the UAE Dirham was at Rs 77.45 and Rs 77.60.

Commodity-linked currencies like the Canadian Dollar were priced at Rs 205 (buying) and Rs 210 (selling), whereas the Australian Dollar traded between Rs 182.75 and Rs 187.75.

Asian currencies also showed little change, with the Chinese Yuan at Rs 39.03 and Rs 39.43, and the Japanese Yen trading between Rs 1.80 and Rs 1.90. The Indian Rupee remained at Rs 3.14 for buying and Rs 3.23 for selling.
