Punjab Sees Food Inflation as Flour, Sugar Prices Climb

Essential food items have seen a steep rise in Punjab, with flour and sugar costs placing added pressure on households.

Market reports show that the price of a 20-kilogram flour bag has jumped by Rs300 in the past two weeks. Retail flour rates have also risen by Rs15 per kilogram.

Traders linked the surge to higher wheat prices, which climbed from Rs2,300 to Rs2,800 per maund.

Sugar prices remain stubbornly high, trading at Rs200 per kilogram in local markets. This figure continues to exceed the official rate of Rs175 set by the government.

Citizens have expressed concern over the unchecked inflation, complaining that even basic kitchen items are slipping out of reach.

Many have urged the authorities to take urgent measures to regulate the market and ensure strict implementation of official price controls.
