Gold Jumps by Rs900 per Tola amid Global Trends

Gold prices in Pakistan recorded another jump on Tuesday, following gains in the international market.

According to figures shared by the All Pakistan Gems and Jewelers Association, the rate of 24-karat gold rose by Rs900 per tola, closing at Rs360,700 compared to the previous Rs359,800.

Similarly, the price of 10 grams of 24-karat gold increased by Rs772, reaching Rs309,242 from Rs308,470. The rates for silver, however, remained steady, with one tola priced at Rs4,121 and 10 grams at Rs3,533.

Alongside the rise in gold, wheat prices also showed a sharp increase. The rate for a 40-kilogram bag went up by Rs300, bringing the new price to Rs3,100 from Rs2,800.

Pakistan Flour Mills Association Chairman Asim Raza criticised the authorities for failing to control the situation. He noted that the Punjab government’s decision to deregulate the wheat market had added to the price volatility.

Raza cautioned that if corrective measures are not taken, flour prices could rise further, causing additional stress for households already struggling with inflation.
