Gulf Returnee Tests Positive for Monkeypox
Pakistan has confirmed a new case of monkeypox after a man returning from the Gulf tested positive, health officials said on Friday.
According to the National Institute of Health (NIH), the patient, a 42-year-old resident of Attock, developed symptoms soon after landing in Islamabad.
He was first taken to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) before being shifted to THQ Hospital Hazro, where he is currently receiving treatment in isolation.

Medical tests conducted at NIH confirmed the presence of the virus earlier this week. Officials stated that strict health protocols were being followed to ensure the patient’s condition is managed safely and to prevent further spread.

In a separate case, another traveler who also arrived from a Gulf country was suspected of carrying the infection. However, his test results came back negative, leaving only one confirmed case at present.
Public health experts said the detection highlighted the importance of screening returning passengers, especially from countries where the disease had been reported.
They urged travelers to seek medical help if symptoms appear.
