Heatwave Forces School Holiday Extension
The Punjab government has extended summer vacations for both public and private schools, citing concerns over the severe heatwave affecting the region.
According to the School Education Department, students across the province will now return to classrooms on 1st September. The decision comes in response to rising temperatures and growing concerns about students’ health and safety.
Officials from the department said that a formal notification regarding the extension will be released shortly. The extension applies to all educational institutions in Punjab, including those in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, and other major cities.

Initially, schools were set to reopen earlier in August, but the prolonged heat and feedback from parents, teachers, and health experts led the government to delay the reopening.
Authorities stated that the move aligns with current health advisories and aims to safeguard students during extreme weather conditions.
The provincial government said that both government-run and privately managed schools must comply with the new schedule.
