Israel Approves Plan to Seize Gaza City
The Israeli government has agreed on a military plan to seize Gaza City, confirming the decision on Friday in a statement from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office.
The plan, approved by the security cabinet, outlines five main objectives: dismantling Hamas, securing the release of hostages, removing weapons from Gaza, asserting Israeli security control, and creating an alternative administration.
According to the IDF, forces will prepare to enter Gaza City while ensuring aid reaches civilians outside fighting zones. However, the decision has faced sharp criticism.

The UN cautioned it could cause “catastrophic” harm to civilians and hostages, while UK officials described it as “a huge mistake.”
Inside Israel, families of hostages expressed concern that the plan jeopardises the lives of the 20 believed to remain alive in Gaza.
Opposition leader Yair Lapid accused far-right ministers of steering the government toward actions that could serve Hamas’s interests.
Israeli media reported that the strategy begins with relocating much of Gaza City’s population to southern areas, followed by wider military operations.
The UN says over 87% of Gaza is already under evacuation orders or militarised, with humanitarian agencies warning of worsening famine and deprivation.
