Mardan-Born Cricketer Joins Oman Team for Asia Cup 2025
Oman has announced a 17-member squad for their debut in the Asia Cup, marking a major milestone in the country’s cricket history. Veteran batter Jatinder Singh will lead the team, which features a mix of experience and fresh talent.
The squad includes four newcomers — Sufyan Yousuf, Zikriya Islam, Faisal Shah, and Nadeem Khan — who could make their first appearances on the international stage.
Head coach Duleep Mendis said the team was eager to test itself against the best, describing the tournament as a significant step forward for Oman’s cricket ambitions.

He noted that competing against established sides like India and Pakistan would be a valuable experience for the players, emphasizing that the T20 format allows unexpected results.

Mendis highlighted the team’s preparation, which includes participation in Oman’s National T20 competition and intensive practice sessions aimed at boosting confidence.
The Asia Cup 2025 will be played in the UAE from September 9, featuring eight teams. Oman has been placed in Group A with India, Pakistan, and the host nation UAE.
Their campaign will begin with a match against Pakistan on September 12, followed by fixtures against UAE on September 15 and India on September 19.
