Michael Jackson’s Unwashed Socks Sell for Over $8,800

By News Desk

A pair of unwashed socks worn by the late pop icon Michael Jackson has been auctioned off for a staggering €7,688 (approx. $8,822),

According to auctioneer Aurore Élie, the white socks were famously worn multiple times by Jackson while performing his global hit “Billie Jean.”

One of the socks was reportedly left behind by a technician near Jackson’s dressing room after a concert in Nîmes in July 1997.

The socks were carefully preserved for 28 years before being put up for auction, with an initial estimate of €3,000–€4,000.

This isn’t the first time items worn by the King of Pop during his iconic performances have fetched big money:

  • In 2009, a Macau casino resort paid $350,000 for the glittery glove Jackson wore during his first moonwalk in 1983.
  • In 2023, the hat he wore just before that same performance sold for over $80,000.
  • And in 1984, the leather jacket Jackson wore in a soft drink commercial was sold for more than $300,000.

Michael Jackson passed away in 2009 at the age of 50 due to a fatal overdose. Despite past controversies involving allegations of child abuse, his legacy and fan following remain unshaken to this day.
