Pakistan Wins Key Boxing Board Seat

ISLAMABAD: In a significant diplomatic triumph on the sporting front, Pakistan has outpaced India to secure a key position in Asian boxing governance.

Asian Boxing Confederation has elected Pakistan’s Khalid Mehmood as its member of the Board of Directors of the Asian Boxing Confederation.

Pakistani candidate has defeated India’s Ajay Singh by a convincing margin of 18 votes to 9. The vote took place during the Congress session of the Asian Boxing Confederation in Thailand.

Khalid Mehmood currently serves as the Secretary-General of the Pakistan Olympic Association. His victory not only reflects growing confidence in Pakistan’s leadership at the continental level but also signals a strengthening of Pakistan’s role in regional sports cooperation.

President of the Pakistan Boxing Federation, Lt. Col. (R) Nasir Tung, has hailed the win as a moment of pride. “Defeating India on an international stage is a matter of great honour. Pakistan is gaining a stronger foothold globally in sports,” he said.

He further added that Khalid Mehmood’s election is a testament to Pakistan’s positive image and the growing success of its sports diplomacy.
