Punjab Braces for Cloudburst and Flood Threats
Authorities in Punjab have sounded the alarm over the risk of cloudbursts in Upper Punjab, alongside warnings of possible floods and landslides in several districts as heavy rain continues to lash the province.
According to PTV, Smart Safe City centers across Punjab have been mobilised to monitor the developing situation. Special teams are working around the clock, with virtual patrolling officers keeping close watch on sensitive areas, particularly in Murree and Rawalpindi.
Advanced technology, including artificial intelligence systems, is being used to highlight vulnerable points and potential choke spots. Officials say this approach allows early intervention and helps coordinate swift preventive action.

In Rawalpindi, major waterways, including Nullah Lai, are under 24-hour surveillance through Safe City cameras. Over 600 modern cameras installed across Punjab are feeding live updates to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), enabling rapid response teams to act quickly in case of emergencies.
Residents have been strongly advised to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from rivers, streams, and electricity poles, and comply with government safety instructions. The Safe City Authority stressed that all available resources are being deployed to safeguard lives and property against the severe weather threat.
