Govt to Penalise Poor Performers, Reward Top Ministries

By Salman Khan
Islamabad: The Cabinet has decided that underperforming ministries and organisations will face disciplinary action.

In a recent meeting, the Cabinet agreed that Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) would be developed for each ministry and organisation. Their performance will be evaluated every two months, and based on this evaluation, top performers will be appreciated and publicly acknowledged, while poor performers will face strictures and disciplinary consequences.

The Prime Minister stressed that what matters most is a firm commitment to public office, selfless perseverance, and a resolve to deliver results that improve the lives of the people of Pakistan in every domain.

He further noted that a large number of institutional and structural reforms had already been initiated, and it was now time to accelerate their implementation to enhance governance and service delivery for public benefit.

Sharing satisfaction over the government’s economic achievements, the Prime Minister informed the Cabinet that the KSE-100 Index had reached a record high of around 137,000 points, indicating strong business confidence despite numerous internal and external challenges.

He expressed optimism that, by the Grace of Allah and through the nation’s hard work, Pakistan would continue its path toward sustainable and inclusive economic growth and soon emerge as one of the world’s most competitive economies.

The Prime Minister also pointed out that the government had completed more than one year in office and had successfully tackled major challenges — including stabilising an economy that was on the brink of default and repulsing military aggression from a much better-resourced adversary.
