Shaniera Akram Criticises Helmetless Bike Ride Video of Hania Aamir

A viral video of actor and model Hania Aamir riding a motorbike without a helmet has ignited an online debate over celebrity responsibility and road safety.

The clip, shared by the Mere Humsafar star as a light-hearted moment, showed her cruising on a public road, smiling at the camera.

However, social activist Shaniera Akram, wife of former cricketer Wasim Akram, criticised the stunt as unsafe and unlawful.

Shaniera, who has long campaigned for helmet use in Pakistan, reposted the video to her Instagram story, calling it “illegal” and “reckless.”

She said she had worked for years with hospitals and medical experts to promote road safety and that such public displays undermine those efforts.

“This is like a dagger to my heart,” she wrote, stressing that public figures can influence millions of followers and should avoid behaviour that could encourage risky actions.

Drawing on her experience, Shaniera said she had personally witnessed tragic outcomes from similar stunts.

She clarified her remarks were not a personal attack on Hania but a public safety reminder. “If it makes even one person think twice before doing this, it’s worth it,” she noted.

“It’s not rocket science — it’s against the law, and it’s dangerous,” she added.
