Sindh Revamps MDCAT Exam Process
The Sindh government has decided to assign the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Sukkur the responsibility of conducting the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) for the upcoming academic year.
The decision was finalised during a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, amid concerns about irregularities in last year’s exams.
Officials say the move aims to ensure a fair, transparent, and standardised admission process for students across the province.

Under the new arrangement, IBA Sukkur will oversee the test for both public and private medical and dental colleges, while the Sindh Health Department will supervise the entire process.
Available data shows that Sindh’s government medical colleges offer 2,550 MBBS and 500 BDS seats, while private institutions provide 1,441 MBBS and 2,025 BDS seats.
The chief minister stressed the need to restore public confidence in the testing system. The move is also seen as part of the broader policy of the PPP-led government to enhance the quality of education in Sindh.
