Southern KP Remains Polio Hotspot as Two New Cases Found
Health officials have confirmed two new cases of polio in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, underlining the growing challenge of eradicating the virus.
The National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) reported on Tuesday that the affected children are from Tank and North Waziristan, districts repeatedly flagged as high-risk.
The NEOC described the current situation as alarming, noting that southern KP has become the focal point of ongoing transmission. Authorities say the persistent spread of the virus in this region is threatening national eradication goals.

In response, a nationwide vaccination campaign will be rolled out next month. Parents have been strongly advised to ensure every child under five receives the vaccine, as unvaccinated populations remain vulnerable.
Earlier this month, a case was reported in Lakki Marwat’s Suleman Khel area involving a five-month-old baby. With these latest confirmations, Pakistan’s tally of polio cases for the year has reached 23, raising concerns about the country’s decades-long fight against the disease.
