“ A month has been passed to complete the process of handing over management control of Islamabad port and it would be appropriate at this stage to obtain a written assurance from the UAE Government regarding the validity of the draft agreement before the matter is placed before the appropriate forum for a decision,” sources said quoting an observation of Pakistan government.

The government of Pakistan committee also noted that there should be clarity regarding the nominated entity by the UAE Government in the draft framework agreement.

The Cabinet Committee on Inter-Governmental Commercial Transactions (CCoIGCT) has recently taken up a matter regarding the “Management and Operation of Islamabad International Airport.

The cabinet body has directed the concerned ministry to remain engaged with the UAE Government and to seek a written assurance that the validity of the draft framework agreement would be three months instead of one year.

The committee has also directed the concerned ministry to seek clarity from the UAE Government regarding the ‘nominated entity,’ which must be unambiguously identified in the draft framework agreement.
