Zalmi Foundation donates Rs10m for KP flood relief efforts

The Zalmi Foundation has announced a donation of Rs10 million to assist flood-affected communities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), as the province grapples with severe devastation caused by recent torrential rains and flash floods.

The announcement was made by Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi, who took to social media handle and wrote, “Zalmi Foundation donates Rs 10 million to support the flood victims in KPK.”

The donation comes as official figures reveal the heavy toll of the disaster. According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), at least 194 people have lost their lives across northern Pakistan due to cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides over the past week. KP has been the worst-hit, with 180 fatalities, followed by nine in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and five in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB).

The NDMA reported that the victims included 158 men, 19 women, and 17 children, while at least 28 people have been injured nationwide. Damage assessments indicate that 116 houses have been destroyed or partially damaged in affected regions, forcing many residents to seek temporary shelter.

Relief agencies are working to restore access to remote areas cut off by landslides, while rescue teams continue to search for missing persons. Authorities have warned that the death toll may rise as weather conditions remain unstable and more rainfall is expected in the coming days.
